Nokia N97 is the newest N-Series flagship device from Nokia, which provides you with advanced technology and high-end features. It has a large 3.5-inch TFT resistive touch screen offers a 640 x 360-pixel resolution and support for up to 16.7 million and includes haptic feedback, brightness control, an ambient light detector and an orientation sensor, two keyboards - a slide out full QWERTY keyboard, provide effective work with blogs, communicate in chat rooms, text messages or e-mail messages and allows you to "type" with one hand using the native T9 predictive input and touch sensitive keyboard, the new widget-based home screen (Similar to the Samsung TouchWiz interface found on the Omnia) gives you the freedom to customize the N97's home screen and lets you see more information at a glance as well as have one-touch access to your applications, large amount of built-in 32GB memory, built-in A-GPS receiver with digital compass which keep you pointing in the right, high performance and high-speed connections for «personal» Internet and an 'always open' screen which allows you to stay permanently connected to your favorite social networking website like Facebook or any other website which you use a lot.

Connectivity

The Nokia N97 is a quad-band Smartphone works on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies, as well as it is ready to work on 3G networks in the U.S. and international  850/1900/2100 MHz HSDPA. The Nokia N97 is the first Nokia phone to support tri-band UMTS ("worldwide" 3G). This means that you will get 3G speeds where they are available: 850/1900 MHz for AT&T Wireless and other carriers in the Americas, 2100 MHz elsewhere (including Japan). The Nokia N97 has a built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), which allows you to connect on the road with a variety of wireless hotspots. You can also to connect to a wide variety of peripherals - including stereo headphones - with the Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR capabilities. The connectivity to the computers and laptops is solved with a standard USB 2.0 and with the well known and well functioning Nokia software which come on the installation CD. For internet connections the Nokia N97 uses the WAP, XHTML and HTML built-in web browsing technologies to provide this service. The 3.5-inch display is perfectly sized for full fat internet browsing and viewing webpages. Luckily with HSDPA support and Wi-Fi on board, pages load quickly.

Display

The palatial 3.5-inch VGA-quality display dominates the front, joined only by touch-sensitive call keys and a handy mechanised menu button. The traditional Symbian S60 home screen has also been given a facelift and is now made up of customisable panels. At the top sits a clock, date and profile zones – tap on these and you get instant access to the alarm, calendar and your profile options. The rest consists of five panels that you can personalise using a variety of content.

E-mail and messaging

Nokia N97 supports the e-mail accounts from more than a thousand internet service providers (ISPs) around the world (SMTP, IMAP4, POP3), as well as Gmail, Yahoo! mail and Hotmail. If you use Microsoft Exchange at work you access your email using the Mail for Exchange mobile email client, which comes pre-loaded. The messaging options include also SMS, MMS. The Emailing service enables you to not only send and receive personal emails but also using the facilities for work related purposes, so in or out of the office you can keep on top of the workload.

Applications ans services

The Nokia N97 comes with a great selection of applications which include Conference Calling, Document Viewer, GPS Navigation, OS Symbian Operating System, S60 5th Edition Software, a whole host of other tools to make a little easier and less complicated like a Converter, Calendar and a Calculator plus many more. Nokia preloads the device with a number of extra apps, including a dedicated YouTube player, Qik (for sharing videos from your phone), Boingo Wi-Fi service, Psiloc World Traveler, AP News, and Guitar Rock Tour. The N97 also supports the recently launched Nokia Ovi Store where users can peruse the large catalog of Symbian applications and download them to the device.

Memory

Nokia N97 supports up to 48 GB of memory, including built-in memory capacity of 32 GB and the possibility of using memory cards microSD, enclosing up to 16 GB of music, multimedia and other information.

Music

In addition, Nokia N97 has excellent music features. It  built-in high-end music player produces high quality audio output and supports various popular formats such as MP3, AAC, AAC +, eAAC, eAAC +, MPEG4 & WMA including the opportunity to work in playback mode to one and a half days.

Video player

The video player of the handset is comprised with MPEG4, WMV and 3GP formats. The phone supports TV-Out function to see the images on your TV screen.

Camera

Also the device is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with high-end optics Carl Zeiss, dual LED flash, up to 14x digital zoom, JPEG / EXIF still image file format, and supports video recording in DVD as a format similar to 16:9 at 30 frames per second (fps) and services like Share on Ovi via high-speed connectivity to HSDPA networks and WLAN in order to immediately share their pictures. You get a good selection of white balance, exposure, scene, ISO, contrast and colour settings. Auto-focus is quick to get its eye when lining up shots and the results are pleasing. Picture quality is detailed and displays Nokia’s signature warm colour tones. With the likes of the Samsung i8910 HD shooting video in 720px HD and the LG Arena in WVGA-quality, the N97’s VGA resolution at 30fps is slightly disappointing. However, it is certainly smooth enough for posting on YouTube and watching on your PC.It includes well as digital video stabilization, settings for scene, video light, white balance and color tone, and up to a 90-minute clip length. Other features include automatic location tagging (geotagging) of images / videos, images taken in the correct orientation automatically, and Cover Flow viewing of photos with finger motions. Printing pictures from the Nokia N97 couldn't be easier as Pictbridge  is supported. PicBridge  allow you to print directly to a compatible printer without the need of going via your PC. There is also a second camera with a resolution of 640 x 480 designed for video calling.

Gaming

With the Nokia N97 mobile phone there is a great selection of gaming facilities available for the user to choose from. There are Java, Embedded and Downloadable games with the addition of N Gage support providing a superb gaming experience on your mobile phone. The downloadable games option enables to choose your own games to play and suiting more to your own individual gaming taste.

Battery

You  can expect to gain up to 6.6 hours of GSM talk time and up to 7.1 hours of GSM stand-by time or 5.3 hours of 3G talk time and 6.6 hours of 3G stand-by time. For video and music play times they are 4.5 hours of video play-back time and a massive 37 hours of music play-back time.

Nokia N97 is the best featured phone which has came after Nokia 5800. I really love the slide-out feature of keypad. The hub beatifically explains all the major points of the Nokia N97 very excellently.

It is the best selling N-series phone of Nokia with lots of stunning features under controlled price tag.

I love this hub, as i am not having Nokia N97 but the features are tempting me to go for it. so lets see !!!
